Hello, we are speaking to you from Fez Avery's Interlochen poetry class. We are fans of the imagery in the shrunken cloud, the earth drinking, and the stolen space. Hey Fez! We appreciate your curiosity. We are speaking to you from Fez Avery's SECOND (but no less important!) Interlochen poetry class. In response to your thoughts, we are wondering whether the parenthetical created by the two em dashes could serve as "context" for the bookends of the poem. Further, we discussed the poet itself as context for humanity—that human freedom exists within the stolen spaces of the world itself. Within the world, and in human freedom, we are connected in an intricate braid of rootwork. We also noticed strong mythological themes—the Fates, specifically, but also The World Tree, the tree of knowledge. Rock on.
