Geomorphology
Watch how the river steals from itself. There is no such thing as an immovable object. Erosion happens slowly, then all at once. When a cut bank collapses the scientific term is failure. I loved you once. I promise. There was nothing I could do.

Masterfully concise with a powerful turn at the end.
And I absolutely love the work done by the scientific definition in the fourth stanza.
Lovely poem. The river metaphor is perfect!
