Not what I expected, and exactly what I wanted.

I love this poem. I'm always looking at fresh ways to address the moon and this hits a lot of those buttons for me. Plus it resonates. There was a time when all of my poems ended with an image of the moon or stars, so I challenged myself to write poems that took place during the day. It was so much harder to do that. I totally resonate with the line about how the sun sometimes feels like the enemy of poetry. . . That being said, I think a lot of ancient hymns are directed at the sun and how it makes things grow, so maybe we can find inspiration there. I'm still trying to find more ways to bring daylight into my poems : )

I think it's a tad unfair to blame the moon for problems clearly caused closer to home...

Goodness, this is transcendent! I've just read one other poem by Brenda ("Artless" in The New Yorker) and now I must read more.
