I've never seen this one before. It's text book in one way to write a free verse love poem. It hooks me with the first line by making me ask a question. By the end of the first stanza it lets me know it's a love poem. And then I read the rest of it metaphorically through that lens. And it doesn't disappoint. Do I know exactly how all the strange imagery fit 'this' couple? No. But I don't care because it takes me on a journey through the complexities of love. Assuming my reading of it is correct, lol. . .didn't mean to write that much. It's funny how shorter poems can pack so much into themselves. Thanks so much for sharing

Love a poem with its own internal logic! And yes, it's often the short ones that say so much, and that give us so much to say. So happy you enjoyed this one. We're always looking for strong love poems.
