I am SO glad you chose this poem. Wright has for years captivated me with his ability to gain maximum impact in an economy of words. Just brilliant.

A writer friend of mine remembers him in a writing class they were both in way back when he wasn't a famous anything. He was difficult and arrogant. However, upon learning about Franz's hard life, he has a ton of sympathy for why he was like that.

Even if it's a stroke of Genius,

To Me Quite Heinous,

Meticulous Yet Imbecile To It's Immaculate Rendered Hindered Immense Sonorously Boisterous,

For Me,

Quite Zealously Sententious.

Hopefully you find what you're looking for, unless looking is what you're after....

The distillation here is exceptional and much more difficult than it appears. Not one unnecessary word is used, yet meaning is fully, richly conveyed.

and?!

Seems a little trite to me. If you hadn't said it was 2008 I'd have thought it was a hallucinating AI.

When a piece doesn't land for me I just assume I'm not the target audience...

I really appreciated the spareness of this, and found it to be full of compassion for the human condition. We all experience pain, and often feel that we are strangers in the world, so to be reminded that we are always home here was a nice reminder.
