A magnificent distillation of what we as poets hope we’re creating. I love publishing because it means strangers will read my work. I’ll almost never know what their response is, but it has the chance of making a splash in a pond I’ll never see, ripple into places I'll never know. This is worth doing.
Thank you! Ironically I forgot who wrote this poem or how to find it again: it’s a good one. I taught it on the first day of Comp 2 for years, a xeroxed handout from a colleague. Just as ephemeral as the subject…
I found the poem dull.
i love this so much. one of my favorite reads of the week.
Thank you for reading 🌻
I'm drawn by the simplicity and the profundity in this poem. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
It's such a simple wish that Levertov herself seemed to find as she wrote the poem. :)
Wonderful.

One of my all time favorites <3
Sweetly muzzy, engagingly almost bumblingly moving. Everybody wins with Levertov.

"for/assuming there is/such a secret, yes" She makes me love them, too. <3
That's the line! Gosh.
